Phd Scholarship in Marketing at Copenhagen Business School Denmark 2019

The Department of Marketing at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark invites applications for PhD scholarships in Marketing in 2019.
For these scholarships, they are looking for two PhD students who will be interested in and qualified to undertake research in one of the following research areas (tentative supervisors have been added in parenthesis):
  • Agile innovation processes (associate professor Claus Varnes).
  • Brand co-creation and ethics (professor mso Richard Jones and associate professor Stefan Markovic).
  • Branding complex organizations and entities (professor mso Sylvia von Wallpach and associate professor Sebastian Zenker).
  • Customer research perspectives on sustainable consumption (professor Torben Hansen and professor mso Thyra Uth Thomsen).
  • Digitalization of business-to-business customer interactions (professor Ad de Jong and associate professors Tobias Schäfers and Michel van der Borgh).
  • Embodied cognition (professor Torsten Ringberg and assistant professor Florian Kock).
  • Enhancing donor retention in the long run (associate professor Edlira Shehu).
  • Mindful consumption (professor Torsten Ringberg and associate professor Jesper Clement).
  • Promotions and ad effects in a virtual reality shopping environment (associate professor Jesper Clement).
  • The link between consumer expectations and satisfaction (professor Alexander Josiassen).
  • Transforming marketing for the global and digital world (associate professor Tore Kristensen).
A typical (but not limited to) research focus would be an exploration, testing, or identification of drivers/motivators related to above topics within a managerial, consumer, business-to-business, business-to-consumer, or consumer-to-consumer context and how this contributes to theoretical/behavioural understandings of business and/or consumption interaction/outcomes. Teaching responsibilities during the PhD program comprise undergraduate and graduate courses. The applicant can become involved in externally funded research, too.
Worth of Award
  • The PhD scholarship includes tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with approximately DKK 23.770 (about 3,160 euro) per month up to DKK 28,964 (about 3,860 euro) per month depending on seniority.
  • There also is a pension contribution totalling 17.1 % of 85 percentage points of the base salary.
Eligibility
  • To be considered, the applicant should have a basic training at a Master’s level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process).
  • An educational background in the social sciences is necessary.
  • The applicant must have completed successfully a Master’s degree before commencing the PhD at CBS.
  • Also, the applicant must absolutely be fluent in English, both in spoken and written forms.

  • Abstract of proposed PhD project (maximum 100 words).
  • Description of the proposed PhD project (maximum 2,000 words excluding references) with the following subheadings:

  • Please note that they request the above in order to test for PhD applicants’ interest in and capability of undertaking high-quality research.
  • The actual research that the successful PhD applicant eventually will undertake depends on the supervisors.
  • Furthermore, a PhD application must include copies of a Master’s degree certificate (or other certificates of a corresponding level; grades for all courses and dissertation must appear on this certificate), a brief curriculum vitae (CV), a list of any working papers and publications, and one copy of a selected written work (e.g., Master’s thesis).
  • Finally, a PhD applicant must include a letter of motivation; and three referees (with the full contact details including telephone, e-mail, and institution) must be stated. If needed, they will contact these referees for further elaboration.
  • A committee of marketing experts will assess the received PhD applications. The assessment of the PhD applications will be based on the quality and relevance of the research proposal, including an evaluation of the applicant’s ability to accomplish it, as well as the supervision team. Following this assessment, the two PhD candidates are selected.
  • The PhD application must be sent via the electronic recruitment system. Please include all requested material.
  • Any PhD application, which does not follow the requested procedure or which does not contain all the requested information, will not be considered.
